Purpose of the cave rescue foundation
The cave rescue foundation was established in 2008, primarily to give
the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cave
Rescue group a long term financial footing.
This group is fully financed by its members only and doesn't receive any
governmental grants.
It was formed in 1985 and was the first German cave rescue organisation
established specifically for cavers.
In the meantime, it has built up a professional team, who have proven
themselves in many rescue operations.
The constitution of the foundation, however, also specifies support for
other cave rescue organisations.
To quote: The purpose of the foundation is to offer financial support for
the rescue of anyone who has become
endangered or had a serious accident in subterranean cavities or caves.
The compliance with these aims is checked annually by an independent
regulatory authority.
The foundations board of trustees is made up of experts in the field of
cave rescue, who decide annually how the accumulated money is to be distributed.
